Service Worship Opportunity

Service Worship Update

Last year the Worship Committee organized our first-ever “Service Worship Sunday” where our church members went to schools in the area to do outdoor projects as a way to serve our neighbors. This year for “Service Worship Sunday” we had planned to serve those in nursing homes. Of course that is not an option due to the current circumstances, but our worship committee has found another way to serve that group of people.

After talking with the directors of Sunrise Pleasanton, we have decided to ask the people of JKPC to write a card or two, or more, to the residents. The goal is to collect 91 cards, one for each resident, to drop off on Pentecost Sunday for distribution.

This could be a “Thinking of You” card or perhaps “Praying for You” card or even a “Have a Wonderful Day” card. The director was excited that we could help brighten someone’s day just by letting them know people outside of the nursing home are thinking of them. Beginning next week, there will be a box on the counter in the breezeway at church for you to drop off cards.

The cards will be delivered on Pentecost Sunday, May 31. Pentecost is considered the day the “Church” was born. It is a day when the Holy Spirit came upon the believers of Jesus and gave them the power to speak in a variety of languages. We look forward to showing our love to the Sunrise residents on this special Sunday.
